Liberia’s National Female Coaches Select Four Players From Margibi County’s Pride “Hippo FC” For International Women Football Duties.

Coaches of the Female National Team have selected four footballers residing in Margibi County for the country’s international friendlies against neighboring Sierra Leone this week .

Those selected from the county are all currently playing for Hippo FC , the LFA’s only Women First Division Club in the county.
They include : 1. Goalkeeper -Kormassa Sumo2. Defender-Odell Pretty Bleekeh 3. Defender- Martina Harris 4. Striker- Martha Kolleh .

1. Goalkeeper- Kormassa Sumo remains the first senior player on the team , after featuring for the Female Lone Star in three different countries , namely : Gambia, Guinea and Sierra Leone .

2. Defender Odell Bleekeh who recently joined the club , has been excellent so far in defense , thus boosting the club’s low rate of conceding goals per game (3/9).

3. Martina Harris , the team’s captain, is on record of denying several top strikers including Angeline Kieh, Lucy Kikeh , etc… in the LFA First Division Women League before the coming of the Covid 19 in March .

4. Striker -Martha Kolleh , a player recently recruited in the Cotton Tree Community has been very excellent in front of goal ; scoring 6 goals in 3 matches . She’s on record of scoring two goals against experienced Earth Angels in the just ended LFA Off- Season Tournament at the ATS .

Hippo FC have been impressive in the recent LFA League, finishing #1on the women league table before the outbreak of Covid 19 in the March of this year .

The club is on record of winning the championship of the Intercollegiate Women Football Tournament last year ahead all other universities and colleges in the country .

This month, Hippo FC won the championship in the Post _Covid 19 Tournament staged by Referrees of Margibi County at the Unification City Sports Pitch .

Following the selection of the players by the National Female Team Coaches , the club’s senior officials have expressed happiness over the manner in which the coaches’ selection of players was done with fairness, merit base , and competency .

The club’s CEO – Syrulwa Somah speaking to the Decent Sports Updates on Monday , lauded the female national team coaches for doing their selection void of favor and discrimination in relation to locality or area of residence .

He said , the team’s president Snamie Tarkor, too, has backed her players selection and has promised the Female Lone Star coaches a 100% performance from each of her players .

According to him, the selection of the four players by National Female Team Coaches serves as a motivation to female club owners to keep uncovering other hidden female footballers in the country .

Dr. Somah disclosed that he can’t wait to see his players in action for Liberia, something he believes is a dream come through .
The Hippo FC CEO, is the first person to establish a female soccer team in Margibi County ; since the end of the Civil War in the country .

Liberia faces Sierra Leone Tuesday in an international female-friendly match at the ATS, before facing the same neighboring country on Wednesday in a return leg- fixture.
