MCC Hosts Monrovia Day Sports Tournament; Begins Walkathon
The City Government of Monrovia under the genuine leadership of His Lordship Jefferson T. Koijee hosted a one day sports tournament today at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
The sports tournament commenced with a walkathon which began from the Monrovia City Hall, through Broad Street to UN Drive and climaxed at the ATS.
There were both kickball and football matches held among four government institutions; namely, Monrovia City Corporation, Paynesville City Corporation, Central Bank of Liberia, and Ministry of Finance & Development Planning. Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee did the official kickoff for the tournament.
In the kickball matches, Monrovia City Corporation’s kickball team hung horn with Paynesville City Corporation’s while Central Bank of Liberia’s kickball team hung horn with Ministry of Finance & Development Planning’s.
Meanwhile, Monrovia City Corporation’s football team clashed with Paynesville City Corporation’s while Central Bank of Liberia wrestled with Ministry of Finance & Development Planning.
Additionally, Monrovia City Corporation defeated Ministry of Finance & Development Planning in the Grand Finale and was crowned as champion of the tournament.
The occasion was embraced by Mustapha Raji, President of Liberia Football Association, Hon. Maxwell Grigsby, Chairman of the Commission on Small Arms, amongst others. Mr Raji lauded Mayor Koijee for his support towards the just ended County Sports meet and further encouraged him to continue to render support towards the branding of LFA.
For his part, Mayor Koijee thanked Mr. Raji and his executive members for joining the City Government in its anniversary celebration. In furtherance, Mayor Koijee also extended gratitude to the participating government institutions for their role played in ensuring a successful Monrovia Day celebration.
