President Weah Appoints New MCSS Superintendent as Several Heads of Ministries and Agencies lined up to be sacked…
Monrovia, Liberia – The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, has appointed Mr. Isaac Zawolo as Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS).
The appointment made Tuesday, November 23, 2021, takes immediate effect.
Mr. Zawolo replaces Mr. Benjamin Jacobs.
It can be recalled that on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, the MCSS Teachers Association staged a strike action in the form of a Stay Home boycott. The Stay Home action by the MCSS teachers rendered all Government-run Elementary, Junior, and Senior High schools without teachers for 24 hours.
After frantic last-minute negotiations with the Government of Liberia represented by Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, Latim Dathong (MOE DMA), and fired MCSS Superintendent Benjamin Jacobs, the MCSS teachers did return to the classrooms on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. That was the second strike action staged by the Teachers of the Monrovia Consolidated School System in the period of a year.
This latest move by the President according to our Highly placed sources is to bring some sanity to the MCSS administration and the start of a major shuffle and sacking of some of the President’s cabinet and heads of other government agencies as well. Some key Ministers and heads of Agencies are said to be in the firing crosshairs of President Weah after the disappointment of failing the Millennium Challenge Corporation scorecard.
