President Weah Lights Up SassTown Felorkri Streets As Citizens Celebrate. In continuation of the Presidential Streets Light electrification project across the Country, Liberian Leader George Weah has again fulfilled another promise to his people especially the rural population when he officially switched on the first batch of street lights in SassTown Felorkri, Grand Kru County on Sunday, February 28, 2021.

The historic occasion first of its kind since the existence of the County was greeted with tears of joy and jubilation among the citizens of Grand Kru County. At the commissioning ceremony, President Weah said providing electricity to rural parts of Liberia, including Sasstown, is part of the Government’s developmental drive to decentralize the country’s resources. Early Sunday morning, members of the Special Presidential Street Lighting taskforce were seen erecting poles and installing solar panels in Sasstown City.

The streets and 500 homes in Sasstown are benefiting from light for the first time. During a formal ceremony recently to light up the streets of Monrovia and its environs, Dr. Weah promised to extend the project to other parts of the country. While touring countless communities in the countryside, the president promised locals that his government would, amongst other things, ensure development is spread out across the country, including electrification of their towns and cities. Due to the new development in SassTown he has been referred to in Grand Kru as Darkness medicine.
