Representative Frank Saah Foko justifies why lawmakers are “corrupt”.

Montserrado County District # 9 Representative, Frank Saah Foko, said the reason lawmakers are corrupt is due to the repeated habits of constituents begging from individuals.

According to Representative Foko, it’s often seen that citizens mount pressure on their lawmakers for personal assistance rather than prevailing on them for projects or interventions for the general good of the community they live in.
Representative Foko told a church congregation on April 19 in Monrovia that personal assistance from lawmakers directly to individual electorates is one-factor breeding corruption mainly among members of the Liberian Legislature.

The lawmaker Claimed, that many requests from individual members of the public cannot be serviced by the salary justly earned by lawmakers; hence, they are left with the option of getting additional resources from other sources to satisfy their people in order to remain in power. District #9 lawmakers said, there have been countless reports of rampant corruption among members of the Liberian Legislature and some pundits believed the lawmaker’s statement further corroborates the allegation of corruption against lawmakers.

Representative Saah Foko has however called on residents of his district to encourage him to do projects that would impact the public, instead of pushing for personal interests.
