Twenty Students Received University Scholarship From The Lawrence G Cooper Foundation
The Lawrence G Cooper Foundation has paid in- full the tuition of twenty university students residing in District#1 , Margibi County .
The foundation’s scholarship fund -drive which was launched on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Baptist Senior High School in Duazon, saw fifty students taking the entrance exam which was conducted by the African -American University (AAU), situated in Du-Port Road, Montserrado County .
Making a brief remark at the launch of the scholarship, the foundation’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) , Solomon Jargbalo said the first twenty high- score students are just the first batch of several other students to benefit from the foundation’s scholarship ; as they have targeted three hundred students to benefit such gestures from their CEO , P. Garmonyou Lawrence Cooper – based in the USA .
In his words , Lawrence G Cooper has realized that there are more than one thousand high school graduates in District 1out of college due to lack of financial support ; and he can’t sit reluctantly without doing something about the situation .
Jargbalo explained that Lawrence has promised to pay in full every fees required for those benefiting his scholarship .
He motivated the beneficiaries on behalf of Lawrence to remain focus in their academic sojourn if they must succeed in maintaining the scholarship .
Professor Cacious Brown , representing authorities of the university in partnership with the foundation ( African -American University) , said P. Lawrence Garmonyou Cooper has paid in full $ 350 USD for each of the twenty(20) students who passed the scholarship test .
Two of the students speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries lauded the CEO of the foundation for investing his money in the Human Resource Development of the young people of District 1 , Margibi County .
Joseph Tengbeh and Mary Johnson in separate remarks, narrated that it’s very difficult to find a single individual investing his hard-earned money to benefit the lives of other people outside his immediate family .
They promised to do their best in order to remain on the scholarship ; recounting the number years they’ve been out of school due to lack of financial support .
